You can get to the Ashram by car, follow the directions below.

About the dirt road

We are far from the city and there are 5 km of dirt roads, 2 km of which are uphill. The road conditions vary according to the rainfall. In times of little rain / dry road, normal cars get here. When the road is wet, normal cars can get here, but we recommend that you have some practice in driving on dirt roads, as there are stretches that are more difficult for those who aren't used to it. In times of heavy / prolonged rain, access may be restricted to cars with 4x4 traction. In the latter case, we suggest leaving the car at the São Lourenço bus station and requesting a transfer.

1ST STEP: ROAD ROUTE TO THE START OF THE DIRT ROAD

•  From São Paulo using Dutra highway (distance 310 km / 194 mi): drive 202 km / 126 mi on Highway Dutra up to Cachoeira Paulista, pass accesses to Cruzeiro --> Passa Quatro --> Itanhandu --> Pouso Alto --> São Lourenço --> follow in direction of Soledade de Minas / Caxambu --> in road BR-383, exit at km 302 towards Paiol neighborhood
• From São Paulo using Fernão Dias highway (distance 330 km / 206 mi): drive 279 km / 174 mi on Highway Fernão Dias and exit at km 774A towards Campanha --> drive 62 km / 39 mi towards Caxambu --> turn right at access to São Lourenço and Pouso Alto --> in road BR-383, exit at km 302 towards Paiol neighborhood
• From Rio de Janeiro (distance 289 km / 181 mi): drive 184 km / 115 mi on Highway Dutra up to Engenheiro Passos --> pass accesses to Itamonte --> Pouso Alto --> São Lourenço --> Soledade de Minas --> in road BR-383, exit at km 302 towards Paiol neighborhood
• From Belo Horizonte (distance 372 km / 232 mi): drive 285 km / 178 mi on Highway Fernão Dias up to Três Corações, and drive towards Cambuquira --> drive towards Caxambu --> turn right at access to São Lourenço and Pouso Alto --> in road BR-383, exit at km 302 towards Paiol neighborhood

2ND STEP: DIRT ROAD TO THE ASHRAM

Arriving at km 302 of the road BR-383, the dirt road starts in front of a bus stop (across the road). Follow for 2.5 km (1,5 mi) until you see a church on your left. At the fork, take right and after 200 m (in front of a house with a bamboo wall) turn right. Drive about 2 km (1 mi), pass through the Ashram gate and drive to the reception office, which stands before the next gate.

Arrival times

Reception hours at the Ashram are from 9:00 to 16:00. For those coming on retreat, the count of retreat days always starts at 2pm and ends at 2pm the following day. If you wish to arrive before 2pm, you will be charged an extra 1/2 a day.
